So sorry to hear everyone’s problems. What a bunch we all are!! Elsie I am on 5mg morphine every 8 hours and it working very well. I am even able to eat a little more now. They think 1 or more lymph glands are swollen in the abdominal cavity causing the pain and problem eating. At least hopefully this is the correct diagnosis this time and we can get on with finding a treatment.
So sorry to hear the story of the horse, some people don’t deserve to keep animals. My cat’s are so spoiled and we love them so much. They take it in turns sitting with me to keep me company. Betty Canada

Elsie, Thanks very much, may well do that if no improvement in May. I have not been able to drive now for a couple of years now as I had so much laser treatment that my peripheral sight was destroyed to save my central vision.

I can’t look at the photo of that poor horse Mr Farmer, I would end up in tears. The one thing I can’t stand in life is cruelty to animals. Thank goodness she is now with a new owner.

Mr Farmer, That was really a sad case of miss treatment of an animal. I should think that must have bought a tear to you all. They should be locked up in a room on their own for a year at least . Still a very good home now with lots of love.
Do you have any idea when the Black Swans will hatch as I would like to catch a glimpse of the hatching.

Some of you may remember Solo a Colt Foal that was born on the webcams in 2008. His mother was Emmie. I must admit other than knowing her as a very kind horse and that I delivered Solo I remember little else. Maybe some of you may remember some details.

After Solo was weaned off of his mother he was sold as a foal to whom we believed was a very knowledgeable kind women, who assured us that Solo would have a good home and be very well looked after.

Two days ago we received a letter from Zoe who had purchased Solo from the women who we had sold him to. She described buying Solo from what she called a junk yard full of rubbish, where Solo a few pigs and a sheep were kept.

Solo was in a very sad state. Just skin and bones as you can see in the photographs I have put on the Wildlife Gallery. He was unbroken when he left us and unbroken when Zoe got him. More than likely he has been on his own without the company of other horses for the year with the women.

As you can see by the other photographs Solo is now with a good person who has another horse. Zoe will give him the care he needs and give him a chance to become a companion.

We no longer breed or sell horses. That decision was made some years back as it was always sad to see them leave.

Well it looks like my eyes are not getting any better and this time my best eye was really bloodshot and swollen until today, but they said that they will do one more in May then review them afterwards.
I was just reading back on some of the messages from Betty and Jenny and noticed that you both seem to having the same, things not getting any better for both of you. I hope you do all get good news soon and be able to return to a normal life well specially for us anyway.
Nice to see that you are back Karen and gradually beginning to sort yourself out as well hopefully.
I see that the Cuckoos are on their way back from Africa and I think that the one in front is on his way up to see you Elsie.
Mick

Mick, Harold is having really bad trouble with his other eye now, a few years ago he 15 injections for wet macula, now the other eye is going. He goes next week and they going to try a new injection called EYELEA. He can’t read now and can’t drive, he was told he could drive locally but he doesn’t even do that now. Apparently this new injection has been known to reverse the situation, so here’s hoping. We had a lady come out yesterday from the Bradford Resource Centre, and she say when he has been to the hospital she is going to arrange for a volunteer driver to take him to the Sensory Resource Centre where they can give him different gadgets to help him. It amazes me when it is said that the elderly don’t get any help, we certainly do here in Bradford, we are well cared for and whatever we need, if possible they get it for us. I can’t fault our Health care here. Anyway take care Mick and mention that new injection when you go back to the hospital.

Wow egg number 2 at loch of the lowes. 70th egg for lady absolutely amazing. Well done
betty canada.

Thanks Jenny. I am fine now I have the pain relief. I slept last night till 4.45am, took another pill and read for about 30 mins then slept till 11.30 am this morning. I am so sorry to hear about hubby. It is very frustrating especially when you have been so careful to make sure he didn’t do things he shouldn’t. Hopefully everything will work out well this time and he will be raring to go.

We too are missing our trips. It will be a year in May since we were in Florida and nothing since. At least I am on my way to a possible treatment, fingers crossed. So lovely to watch lady and all the cams. Thanks so much Mr Farmer it cheers us up so much.

This morning was the coldest 16th April on record, yet on Monday it was 21 degrees C.

Hope everyone else is OK, quiet on here at the moment. Betty Canada

So sorry to read the bad news about your health Betty Glad you have got some pain killers, what strength morphine are you on. The ora morph is the strongest. I thought I would have a better night last night, but no I didn’t all due to a sore heel on the leg I had the accident, so rang the District Nurse this morning, glad I did as she is very concerned that my heal will break down. As I said to Mick we are well cared for as not long after she went I had a phone call to tell me someone is coming out on Tuesday with a gadget you blow up and I put my legs on it to take away the pressure from heal. What we have to go through, but as I always say, life is sweet. We have our loved ones around us, and all the good friends on here. Tale care love xx

Oh dear Betty I am so very sorry to hear your news and hopefully things will now get moving re the CAT scan etc ! Lucky you that he has given you morphine to take for the pain at least that will be helping until you definitely know the final outcome ! Keep your chin up my dear !

Not good news for us either as John really hasn’t been feeling too well since the by-lateral hernia repairs were done in February and last night we went to see his Consultant and he said that he now needs to go back into hospital as he has another hernia and this needs repair ! I Wouldn’t mind but I have done all the driving since the operation and he has been so careful about lifting etc ! Apparently the surgeon seems to think that the haematoma (however you spell it) has now dissolved and possibly one of the internal stitches has given way and the mesh has moved ! The last thing that we wanted to hear as we had planned to drive to Portugal in May stopping off with friends in Brittany and Spain on the way before we got too old to do it and now we have to cancel as the op has to be done sooner rather than later !

Elsie how are you and Harold ?

Not many expectant Mums now waiting for their babies to arrive in the Barn, looks like you did have lots of new additions this year Mr Farmer ?

Thank also for the webcam on the black swans! Are the Canada geese still on the lake and any signs of them nesting ?

Been watching dear Mabel but a shame that the webcam was down for a day or so

Just what we all needed to hear, we shall be loosing the lovely weather that we have been having in the South in the next couple of days and then possibly some rain coming and getting colder !

Jenny x

Hi Everyone. Got my biopsy results today and it looks for sure that the problem isn’t in the digestive system but with the lymph glands in the abdomen. He said most likely lymphoma (cancer). Another cat scan ordered and then I see him his first clinic after the cat scan then referral to another specialist in Toronto. He has given me morphine to take every 8 hours so at least it is a blessing for the pain.

Just been watching a young deer feeding at the badgers feeding station and also a couple of rather large rats !!!!

Good to hear from you “our night owl Karen”, hopefully one night you might be able to get to bed and sleep !!!

Mabel looks pretty settled on her egg at the moment

Jenny x

HI everyone. Much excitement at Loch of the lowes. Isn’t it grand. Plus for their 50th anniversary weekend too.
Jennie, I had a terrible day Friday with pain etc and not sleeping so hubby called the specialist and they moved my appointment to the 15th (this Tuesday) from the 29th. Apparently there is a group of Drs in Toronto that have much more up to date equipment for checking the small bowel so if no decision this time I am asking for a referral.
Finally last night I fell asleep about 10pm and then the cat caught a mouse. Hubby was good he shut my door but she kept banging on it to show me what she had!! She just plays with them, picks them up and lets them go so hubby finally bonked it over the head with a broom. He has to do that now as the first time he tried to take it out of the cat’s mouth, to let it go outside, and the mouse bit him and he had to have all kinds of injections as it was a deermouse that can carry the hanta virus which would be deadly for him with his transplant.
We had to freeze the mouse in a plastic bag for it to be sent by air to Winnipeg where they test to see how far the hanta virus is spreading in North America. Every time I opened the fridge it was staring at me!!
We got back to sleep about 5am and I slept solidly till 4pm, must have needed it.
Have a lovely week everyone. The council took away the tree brush at the front so just the massive pile in the back to go. I am just hoping that nothing has nested in it yet but it is just too big to leave.

I went to look at Mabel, I was just in time she was getting comfy so stood up tucked her prize possession under her and did that nuzzle I copy her doing it welled up and goosed skinned she is just fabulous then to top it off Toy Boy landed to try and take a peek wonderful! Karen Stoke

I will keep up on the Forum promise Jenny I watch the Badger most night its fabulous to see them safe for now I do believe they are going ahead with another Cull I hope I am wrong. Went to see the Dr he wont change the dosage on my sleepers to up them he is leaving me how I am as he explained he doesn’t know which pill is going to suit me until I see the specialist so I am a Qualified Night owl now Ladies and Mick lol . At least Summer is going to be nice I shall sit on the step talking to the moon with tea & Fred ha ha that’s all I can do for the moment… well I tried to get Mabel last night but the cams were down drat so I am off to check my favourite Girl she is wonderful don’t you think. Karen Stoke

Yep Karen you are right,Mabel did lay her first egg, wonder if she will have any more ?

Good to hear from you and hope that you will keep up with us on the Forum !

Betty when do you receive your results?

Elsie how are you and Harold ?

Lovely day here clear blue sky and lots of sun, long may it last !

Beautiful view of the lake too

Thanks Mr Farmer for the webcam view of the badger sett last night

Jenny x

Can’t say things are good with us Jenny, too many worries. Harold’s eye sight is getting very bad, praying the new injection will work. He has already been treated in one eye for Wet Macula, now it is in the other on. Thursday he goes for his prostate check up, hoping things are still alright there. He is finding life hard at the moment because he can’t drive, which he loved, then he still hasn’t got over losing Max, misses him a lot. I really feel for him as he was a very active person always on the go. Can’t see him coming to terms with it all as I have with my disability. Still God is good and I can only pray for his help.
Lovely seeing Lady sitting on her egg, the wind seems to have gone down up there. Denbury cams are all at pot at the moment.

I do Believe CONGRATULATIONS!! are in order Mabel, has produced her first egg what good news that is eh aw so proud Mabel. Karen Stoke

Karen They gave me a general anasthetic as there was so much to do. It was blissfully easy. Lovely and sunny and 17C today.
Lady has just been fed with what looks like a lovely large piece of salmon? I think she is waiting for the easter bunny as she keeps looking in the nest for an egg to appear.
Betty Canada
