I have wasted most of today looking around the Farm and surrounding area for two missing Lambs. After the time I have spent looking and not seeing any sign of them I can only think that they have been stolen.
If they had been Sheep I would believe that they wandered off to return when they are ready. Being Lambs even being last years and weaned they are more likely to stay with the Sheep. I last counted a full count of the twelve Sheep and Lambs we have about five days ago. They do wander off of the Farm as they did last year, either in the Wood by the side of the Horse Field or in the Field on the other side of the Wood. OI looked in both of those places and a lot of other areas just in case they may have gone walk abouts further away.
I really should have ear tagged the Lambs that have our Flock numbers on. Although the tags can be removed and others replacing them it would be hardly worth the trouble. If they have been stolen I have a good idea who has taken them. If I am correct they would more than likely finish up in an abattoir in our local village, I will make a few enquiries tomorrow.
I will need to put an ear tag on Thornton when I finish tonight Diary. For sure he will not be best pleased. Fortunately Thornton Friend is still with the Flock and I will make sure that I tag the remainder of last years Lambs tomorrow.
