Hi Everyone Vicky here again When Mr Farmer went to…

Hi Everyone Vicky here again.

When Mr Farmer went to feed the Emus last week, he did a head count as he always does, he realised that there was one Emu missing. after searching around the farm he found the missing Emu in a different field. The Emu was very ill and couldn’t even stand, he may well of been attacked. Mr Farmer Carried the Emu into the stable where he was fed and nurtured back to health. He is now living in the field with Branston (a horse). Mr Farmer has named him Rupert and he is very friendly taking food from my hand.

On Monday Mr Farmer spared a few minutes to take us around the bottom lake to show us the fish scales which the otter had left. While round the lake Mr Farmer spotted Toads mating, which i have taken some photos of.

On Tuesday Morning we were delighted by the arrival of 3 new lambs. One lamb was born in the barn and is Mr Farmers first little girl this year, she has taking a liking to laying in the food trough. Twins lambs have been born in the field but she keeps taking them into the woods.

Also another suprise were the first two Swallows to arrive back at Denbury.

I have put photos of Rupert, Toads and Lambs on to my flickr.

Hope you have enjoyed my diary!

Hi Everyone it s Vicky here I am currently on…

Hi Everyone it’s Vicky here.

I am currently on holiday at Denbury. Mr Farmer is very busy at the moment and he has asked me if i would mind doing a diary for him, so here goes.

The ewes in the barn have given birth to 4 lambs upto now. The first lamb being Thorntons Nephew, then there are 2 twin boys and the most recent lamb being born this morning which i also believe to be a little boy. We may well have some more lambs in the next few days, i will keep you updated. The ewes in the field should be lambing anytime but no sign of any lambs as yet.

The Canada Geese have now made a nest on the island and when i went down to the lake this afternoon the female was sitting on the nest, so maybe she is sitting on eggs only time will tell.
Also while i was down at the lake the 3 black swans Chased the Gander onto the bank, hopefully this will be a one off as Mr Farmer hasn’t had any trouble before between the geese and the swans.

When sending in photos to Mr Farmer would it be possible to resize them to 640×480 so they can be uploaded straight onto the gallery, this would help Mr Farmer with him being so very busy at the moment.

While i’m at Denbury i will hopefully be taking lots of photos, i already have a few of the new lambs which i will be putting on my Flickr page with many more photos from around the farm.
If any of you would like to pop in and see the photos the web address is:

Hope you’ve enjoyed my diary.

A few photos taken since our return from Denbury – I was surprised to get the camera back from Finn, but there’s an idea for his Christmas pressie!!
The first two photos are of a massive transporter ship at the Royal Portbury Dock – so huge I could barely get it into one frame!!
The next photos were taken last week – the clouds were looking very strange, almost as though they were concealing an “alien invasion”!! They really did look strange!
Next, this morning, as the sun was rising, there was a break in the clouds which revealed the sun’s rays beautifully.
And finally, this afternoon I was in the centre of Bristol and thought Brandon Hill and Cabot Tower was looking especially nice in the sunshine, so I took some pics!
Cabot Tower was built in 1897 in recognition of John Cabot sailing in The Matthew from Bristol in 1497, landing in what we know as Canada. There is a working replica of the Matthew in Bristol and when I get a chance I’ll take some photos of that too! Julia.

I am not best pleased with Tass, Kye or Thornton. I have needed to do some concreting today with one of my Lads helping me. All finished and looking good. I don’t really need to tell what happened you have probably guessed that Tass and Kye had trod in the drying concrete. I say trod, I reckon by the look of it that they had danced in it. Best part was that there really wasn’t any reason for them to be in the area. It must have taken me a good half an hour with a lots of cussing to get it looking as it had when we first finished the job. When we went out to feed the Horses there was Thornton standing in the concrete on his two rears legs reaching to feed from ivy that was growing on the wall. It looked as if he had been walking around in the cement. It can stay like it is now.

A third thing was sure to happen. On my way back from feeding the Badgers I have to walk past the orchard, as I passed a overhanging tree an apple fell onto my head. Some years back we had some friends staying. It must have been about this time of year as there were windfall apples on the ground. I picked up a few to throw to my cows that were in the field next to the orchard. The cows were a good distance from where I was throwing the apples so I needed to throw quite hard. As I threw one it left my hand before I intended it to and it hit one of our friends in her face so hard that it knocked her to ground, all but knocking her out. She wasn’t best pleased with me with half of her faced bruised. They never did come back to visit us again..

Sorry no Diary tonight But there are five new photographs…

Sorry no Diary tonight. But there are five new photographs on the Photo Page. Scroll down, starting from the sixth one.

What a good idea of Elsie’s to post photos of our gardens, helps to brighten up these dark winter days. I attach a photo of my back garden taken through our side gate this summer. You can see our little Poppy in the foreground. Down the far end we have a little raised pond with a stream and fountain, has to be raised to stop Busby leaping in!!….Pat

Hello Mr. Farmer,
Sorry, but I hope you’ll indulge me with this one!!
Elsie mentioned about using the forum photos to make a Charity Calendar, and I thought I’d let you know about the Christmas cards I’ve sent for the past couple of years. What I do is choose from photos I’ve taken each month and then make a postcard from them. Attached is last year’s card, the only difference being that the descriptions of the pictures was on the reverse of the card. I make a donation to different charities each year and the whole value goes straight to the chosen charity as I’ve covered the cost of production myself! The charities also benefit from the fact that I make a bigger donation than I would normally spend on bought cards!! Also, as they are made in postcard form there is less paper used! I hope you like this idea!

You wanted some festive photos Mr. Farmer. Here are a couple. The first is our Christmas tree. There are 400 lights on it! I hope if one of them goes it does not take them all out! It will be a job trying to find out which one has gone! The other was taken some years ago of our dear departed Bobbie wearing his Christmas paper hat! Pat
