The lovely sunshine has really brought the crocuses on in the garden. Here are a couple of shots I took yesterday. Pat.

This is a picture of the Blue Lagoon near Abereiddy beach that Marie spoke about the two specks in it are labradors !! Lynne.

Hello Mr Farmer, I have sent in some pictures, .
The Napoleonic Martello Tower in Grain. Rose (FF)

A picture of a swallows nest taken at the caravan site. they had built their nest on the office wall. Elsie.

Alex asked when Emmi is due to Foal. She was mated on the 2nd of April last year, so her Foalng date is the 1st of March but it could be any time now or even a month later, as some of you well know.

No Jan, I haven’t tracked the Moon in the day. I some times when I get time put the Sun on. I am so busy at the moment I haven’t had time to show it in this good spell of weather.

Branston just likes getting into mischief. It was a message on the Forum last night that made me realise that the Stable light were out. I thought that a bulb had gone and went to the stables to change it. We only use low energy long lasting bulbs, so I was a little surprised that it had gone. When I got to the stables Branston was standing next to the switch. I tried turning the light back on. Obviously he had tuned the light off with his mouth, as the switch was wet where he had used his mouth to turn the switch. The switch is a turn round type that would be difficult to turn with his mouth. I have put some nasty tasting cream on it, that will stop him doing that again in a hurry. At least I know that it is Branston who has been turning the lights off. They have been off a few times recently. Everyone on the Farm got the blame, except Branston.

If he is not turning lights off, he will be trying some other annoying thing to do. If the stable doors did not have kick over bars on the bottoms he would be letting all of the Horses out, as he pulls the bolt catches over. He opens the main barn very often, and we find him with his nose in the feed bins eating away as if it is alright to be there. We were putting in a new webcam cable today and it was quite low. Branston found it, he pulled it so hard with his mouth that it broke.

When I went out to the stables to turn the lights on that Branston had turned off a pair of Geese flew on to the Lake. It was 10.15pm, I would have thought to dark and late. You may have seen them, as I turned the camera onto them. Half an hour later they were flying off again. They must have returned again during the night, as they were on the Lake this morning.

I am going to put the Astro Cams on again tonight. I am going to leave them on the Moon all of the time. If it clear again tomorrow I will show Saturn. It is to much of a chore changing from the Moon to Saturn, as I need to change the camera over and refocus the Telescope on Saturn. Putting the Moon on and then changing over to Saturn is a bit time consuming and I finish up not sitting down of an evening. As soon as Jupiter is visible at a reasonable time I will start to show it on the webcams.

Taken on Abereiddy beach ,and shows a remain of old slate mining that was the trade here ,in the rocks is a most beautiful pool known as the Blue Lagoon ,over the top of the cliff is a railway which was used to transport slate to the next port of Porthgain where it was loaded onto ships, the sand is very dark on the beach from the slate cliffs this is on the Pembrokeshire coast path. Marie.

Dear Mr. Farmer, Just in case anyone had thought of a visit to the Isles of Scilly, but not actually gone…..here are a couple of photos! These were scanned in, so not brilliant quality!
Regards, Julia.

This was taken at 5.20pm Saturday . I think the red really shows up against the blue. Elsie.

Tonight we have left Lady in a different stable block that what Willow is in. Willow is a bit restless, so we will need to keep an eye on her. This is nearly the final stage of weaning her. Up to now it has gone reasonably well and we have managed to wean Willow with the minimum of stress. We have got to keep Lady and Willow completely apart for a couple of days we should then be able to put Willow and Gypsy in the area next to the Sheep.

The Ram wasn’t to good this morning. When I went to feed the Sheep he was reluctant to get up. We helped him to his feet and after a short while he started to eat the hay with the others. He is quite old for a Sheep. In normal circumstance in a flock, he would have been culled a good time ago. This afternoon I let him out of the Sheep pen and on to the grass behind. He had a good munch on the grass, when he had eaten as much as he wanted he tried to put his head through the pen to try to get back with the rest of the Sheep. His horns stopped him from getting much more than his nose in to the pen. I wouldn’t like to guess how long he will live for. As long as he doesn’t look in any pain or distress I will let him carry on as he is. I was going to run another cable so that I could put the Sheep webcam on. I couldn’t find the time to do it today.

We managed to get a much better picture of Saturn last night. It took a bit of doing trying to focus the Telescope on the Planet. The atmosphere didn’t help. After speaking to an amateur astronomer who had seen the website last night, he thought that we could not have got it very much better. The rings are very close to the planet and he thought that we were lucky to have seen any gap in between the Planet and the rings. Tonight I am going to try to show the Moon for a little while before I show Saturn again. When I change over it may take me a while to focus Saturn again.

Lower harbour at Fishguard very quaint cottages surround half of the harbour ,i can sit here for hours and enjoy the scenery and peace, well worth finding to visit , Marie.

A picture of the GEEP, strange eh. Elsie.

The Sky is a bit iffy at the moment. If the cloud lifts a little I will put Saturn on the webcam from about 8.pm. tonight. Just before I turned the webcam off last night I went through the menu of the camera that I was using to show Saturn. There were a couple of adjustments that I was able to do that made the picture a lot better. It was looking more like Saturn than what Elaine’s capture shot looked. We managed to get rid of the glare, that made the rings of Saturn look separate from the Planet. If I manage to get the webcam on you may see the picture change as I try to get a better picture. Elaine I am not complaining about your photograph. I am pleased that I have the photograph of the first time Mars was shown live on the Internet.

The equipment for the Griffon Vulture webcam should have been installed by now, except that the parcel that I sent to Spain has not arrived. I sent the parcel two weeks ago tomorrow, on what was meant to be a five day track-able service. When I tried to track it on Parcel Forces website, I was told that the parcel was not track-able.

This Ewe would come up for a “chat” every time I approached the pen. A real little sweetie! Julia.

A waterfall inside one of the domes at the Eden Project. Sue.

Emmi, getting near the time.

I thought that you may like to see Emmi a little before she is due to Foal. As I said in last night Diary she is very big. Over the past couple of days we have noticed the bulge moving to her rear. The other photograph is of Emmi’s udder, it has also in the past few days started to get larger. Both are signs that she is getting ready to have her Foal. On checking the dates the Foal is due on the 1st of March.

Tonight the Sky is the clearest that it has been for a very long while, so we are hoping to be able to show Saturn as we did last night on the webcams. Going by last night we should be able to see the Planet at about 8.30pm. Showing Saturn real-time live on the webcams, as we did last night was the first time that it has ever been done.

We have had to fit a different type of camera on to the Telescope to that what we would normally use. It brings it a lot closer. Focusing the Telescope took a long time. I must admit that I nearly didn’t bother showing it at all. Once it was focused on Saturn it was worth doing. It was a bit hazy last night, that caused the picture to seem to be going in and out of focus, and I also needed to adjust the the Telescope to keep Saturn in view. At about 11.30pm the sky clouded over and Saturn was lost for the night. I am hoping that there is a part that I will be able to get to help with the fine focusing that the Telescope needs.

At times the rings of Saturn seemed to be attached to the Planet, that is nothing to do with what we are doing, It is how it looks at this time of the year, although we did see little gaps from time to time when there was no haze obstructing the view, then I don’t think that we could have got a better image.

I don’t know what the weather forecast is, but when the sky is clear we will continue showing Saturn. When I fed the Badgers tonight I saw the first crescent of the New Moon. It is not visible for very long, and would have meant a lot of time setting the Telescope for the Moon, to then an hour later to set it back for Saturn. When the Moon is visable for longer I will show the Moon and Saturn on alternative days.
