2 new photographs on the gallery of our new arrival at Denbury Farm that was born last night

Jenny, Jan and Betty, My eye is still bloodshot but no pain so can live with it.
Jenny, We have not been out on any more trips since the New Forest mainly because I have had so many different appointment with doctors and nurses plus I can’t leave Abby my dog at home all day while I go visiting the Hawk Conservancy near Andover.
Last time I went to the Isle of Wight I had some bad memories. When we boys were quite young, we were sent there by the Red Cross for a holiday. The only day the matron of the place was nice to us was while the Red Cross were there while we settled in and the day they came back to pick us up. We could only play in an old barn with her elder son or outside in the storm as trees fell down at the bottom of the drive. We did get smuggled out on a couple of occasions by a young nurse or worker about 5 am but had to be back in time for breakfast which was fried bread and porridge. Outside in the court yard there was a row of toddlers sitting on potties and that is where they had to stay. My mother and father thought we were having a holiday of a lifetime and when we were coming home the Red Cross would not let us off the train as we could not see my parents until the train pulled away so had to go to London and back again and was told not to say anything to the other kids going out to the same place. You would have had to pass my road on the train by by the second bridge you went under coming out of Guildford pass the Cathedral and as you came out into the countryside you could see the farm that I worked on as a boy on your right just across the field.
Jan, Jenny and Betty, My brother will be pleased that you like his pictures, although he does visit this site, he does not do a lot of writing. He can have you and any one in stitches through laughing so much but cannot string a sentence without swearing, use to embarrass me with my father in-law.
I wrote this message the other day then pressed the wrong button and lost the lot.
Mick

Jan, yes you home sounds lovely. Jenny sorry to hear about your burglaries. We also live in a cul de sac. When we were in Florida last year there was a burglary in the street behind us but our friend in the street who sees to the cats barricaded the French doors so we were fine. Mick hope your eye is improving. Jenny your walk on the Isle of Wight sounded lovely and afternoon tea too!!
I am slowly getting around the gluten free and funnily enough of all my enquiries by e-mail Thorntons came back first.
Have a lovely week everyone. Betty Canada

It is lovely Jenny, the view from my living room window is like having my own private ‘hide’ 🙂 its actually better in winter and spring when there are no leaves on the trees as I can see the river, I actually saw a kingfisher last year and I never left the house 😀
it was cold this morning but warmed up lunchtime, raining at the moment, not sure what the weather is for tomorrow as haven’t seen the local forecast yet. Hope you have a good day where ever you end up 🙂

Hi Jan where you are now living sounds very idylic especially with the river view so near you and I am sure you will be safe as regards to thefts !

We are going tomorrow to the cottage and then all being well we will then either go to Hatfield House or one of the nature reserves – really depends on how the weather is ! At the moment it is still so cold even thinking that I may wear a jumper today !how sad is that for August !!! and still no sun this morning either !

Betty hope that you are ok and good news that you now have your appointment for 8th September – no too long to go now !

Loch of the Lowes is very quiet on their webcams now that Mabel and ‘Toy Boy’ have gone ! Even on the webcams at Denbury I don’t seem to be catching the badgers at the right time either !

Karen are you nearly off the medication yet ?

Oh Jenny that is very unsettling having so many burglaries so close, I hope you remain secure and safe 🙂 we have been very lucky, we lived in a cul de sac for 23 years and in that time there were only 2 burglaries and they were houses at the entrance of the road. We now live in a very quiet part of an estate, we do have lots of houses by us but we have the river in front of us and a chain-link fence between us and a public footpath, the back of the house has carports, I is very dark and quiet at night but we have added locks to all doors so fingers crossed are secure, it was a worry when we bought the house last year as the only street light in front of the house goes out at midnight, and the one by the carports is never working.
I have my bird feeders out the front by the footpath as there are lots of trees and recently have been so lucky to see bullfinches and a couple of baby greater spotted woodpeckers, have also recently been getting a small flock of baby blue, great, coal and long-tailed tits, they suddenly appear for 10 minutes or so then they are gone again 🙂
Mick your brother must have the patience of a saint, I can’t sit still five minutes, what lovely photo’s.
Hope everyone is well and has had good weekends 🙂

Totally agree with you Mick regarding your brother, he obviously has the patience of Jobe !!!! if you remember that old saying ??? Excellent photos that he takes !

How is your eye doing ? Had any more trips out and about recently ? We actually caught a train and went to the Isle of Wight last Saturday and did a lovely walk from Sandown to Shanklin on top of the cliffs, very pretty and actually found that the cafe that we used to visit many years ago was still there and thank goodness open for afternoon teas -mmmm yummy and then caught the train back to Ryde, high speed boat back to Portsmouth Harbour and then a train back to just outside London – what a lovely day John and I had !

Jan sadly we haven’t been staying all the time at our daughters because we have recently had a bad spell of burglaries in the cul-de-sac where we live and one seemed to be happening every other day/night by gaining entry through the patio doors so we were advised by the Police to try and stay around ! hence we are driving to check the girls cottage and then back again ! which sometimes can takes us 2 hours to get there and 2 hours back !!! humph very upset about the situation but it cannot be helped ! We had planned so many places to visit ! We have lived where we are for 35 years and nothing has ever happened like this ! We are an extremely quiet neighbourhood and one of our neighbours has been burgled twice in a couple of weeks, all very worrying even though we have an alarm which goes directly to the Police but they are always so overstretched who knows when they would arrive ! more than likely not in time to catch the thieves !!!!!

Hope you are all having a good Sunday so far !

Jenny x

Jenny, He does seem to be at the right place at the right time all the time even when I went out with him one day as we were sitting in the car, we saw a stoat creeping up on some rabbits. He does have some patience as I would keep moving trying to find something to photograph, he will just stay put in a spot and wait for what ever to come to him. I particularly liked the 2 Little Owls on the fence post ,the Stoat in the wall, the fox cub just looking out of its den and the young Lapwing chick by the 2 eggs.

New photograph on the gallery sent in by Mick
Mr Farmer, My brother was out doing his usual photography of wild life when he though he saw a Heron having a bath as it was splashing about in the waters edge only to find that ones he set his camera up did he see a fox attacking the heron and this picture was what he finally got.

Sorry Jenny only just read your post, hope you are having a good time at Little Munden, not brilliant weather at the moment, are you going out and about locally?
Mick hope your eye improves soon, sounds nasty. Betty hope you get things sorted out soon, and same for you Karen, miss your lovely posts. I still haven’t seen the kingfisher on the web cam, but will keep watching 🙂

Hi to all those that are still on this web page, Betty typical the different messages you get from the hospital, if only they could have let you know that instead of beating around the bush then at least it would probably have eased the worry a bit,
Karen, Nice to see that you are back if only to let us know how you are and hopefully getting a little better as the days go on. Good Luck.
Had my eye done yesterday, not as good as the last few times as I look positively evil at the moment with the blood shot eye.
Mick

Saw the Brampton Gynecologist today and he is willing to remove both ovaries/cysts if the general surgeon is doing laparoscopic investigation so have to see where he stands now as the gastric specialist has given the Ok too.
Funny he had a letter from the Toronto gyno saying that when my phone call was supposed to take place, on the Monday, the results from the radiologists weren’t back so instead of letting me know that they just ignored me till they were ready. I cannot imagine how they could think it was OK to do that when it is cancer we are talking about. Unbelievable.

Jenny I am here I have been to Holmfirth for a week with Fred, I didn’t bother going on the comp for a week I don’t bother when I am away I am still weaning off these pills I feel quite poorly to be honest I will try and catch up this week and write a comment hope you are all well stay safe, love… Karen Stoke

Hi Everyone. Went to see the gastric specialist today and when he did his usual stomach prod it was soooo painful. He wants me to gradually reduce my anti-depressant as the way it affects serotonin in the brain at also can affect serotonin in the gut (as he calls it). I also have to go on a gluten free diet for 8 weeks. Also a blood test to check for major inflammation and celiac disease.
He gave me the notes from the Gynecologist that I saw in Toronto and it said at the end PATIENT TO CALL FOR RESULTS!!!!
I called to speak to the secretary again and she confirmed that “I” was supposed to call for my results.
I told her that at the end of the appointment the Dr said we have booked you a telephone call appointment for Monday 14th July at 4pm. That time is set aside for you just like a regular appointment and then he asked to confirm both out telephone numbers, home and cell. So off we trot, wait 2 weeks and as you know, wait for the phone call which never came.
The secretary apologised profusely and said the Dr is away this week and she will sit him down and explain that a patient who has NEVER had a phone call appointment before DOES NOT KNOW that they have to call the DR, unless he actually states that.

I was very weak and wobbly today so I think I will have to wait a bit for surgery as I don’t think I am strong enough. I go back to see my gastric specialist in 8 weeks and hopefully with stopping the med or the diet will help.

Have a great week everyone. It is going down to 19 C by Thursday and 12 c at night!! That is fall weather for us, not summer.

Jenny, Because it is now more or less come to the end of the breeding season, a lot of the web cams have gone down and probably won’t start up again until next spring. I would not think that it is your computer that is playing up in fact I was beginning to think that my own computer had a bug so used Norton to check out my system.
