Thank you for getting the forum working again Mr Farmer, has anyone seen if the barn owl has laid another egg yet, when I just tried to view the camera wasn’t working but they say on the diary it is an intermittent problem 🙂

When we went to feed the orphaned lambs this morning there was a lot of Muscovy ducklings squeaking from the barn owl nest box that you can see on the horse and sheep camera. It is over 7 meters from the ground. Their mother was calling and one by one they fell from the box to the ground flapping their wings they really haven’t yet got. One of the ducklings needed a bit more encouragement than the others and mother needed to fly back to the owl nest box a few times to help it along. Eventually reunited with their mum they made their way to the lake.

Lovely Story Mr and Mrs Farmer. All the birds and animals at Denbury are so lucky to have you looking after them.

Billy died last night. At 10pm he looked well and aware and looking about. When he was looked at just before midnight he was going downhill very fast and died shortly after. The survival rate of pinkies is 1 in 3 so the odds were against him.

Mrs Farmer has named the joey wallaby Billy. Still doing very well with the attention he is getting

The joey is full of itself. When Mrs Farmer went to feed him at 3.30am it out of his pouch. The only way she knew he was about was by its greeting to her, a ‘clicsh-clicsh’ from the back of your throat sound. After finding it under than parrot play cage and feeding the joey he went straight back to sleep. As Mrs Farmer is doing all the hard work with the joey she deserves to name it. Reckon it is going to be a name from Waltzing Matilda, probably abbreviated . i.e Billabong Billy, Tucker from tucker bag, Cooli from coolibah tree, Jumbuck, there are lots. Let you know when its named.

It is looking a lot better for the Joey this morning. It is feeding a lot better, cleaning its self and making noisies. Mrs Farmer is getting up in the night a few times to feed it. Women are a lot better at that sort of thing. (thats my excuse) We need to get the correct milk for it. Saying it, as we are not sure wha sex it is, but looking on the male side. Ali at Crealy Park is giving us advice and information as they had a joey at Crealy that they also had to hand rear. The correct milk will need to come from the US or Austrailia. I will sort that out tomorrow.

Last night in the wallerby paddock we found a pinky joey Wallerby that had fallen out of his mothers pouch. Its moher is very young albino is really to imature to have a joey. Unforunatley as hard as we tried she would no accept it back. The joey is very strong and aware but we are sruggling a little to get it to feed. We will let you know how we get on
