Looking forward to seeing more of these as the weeks roll by. We are lucky to get this free show from our lounge window. Liz – North Yorkshire.

Emmi and the Foal enjoyed being out in the sun for a few hours today. When we first went out to muck out the Horses this morning the sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky and quite warm. Within half an hour it had clouded over and had started to spit with rain. Half an hour later the rain was quite heavy. I brightened up again and other than a few spit its has been good all day. We had intended to put Emmi and the Foal in the corral, but we had not been finished. We made it secure with a few gates until we find the time to complete the work. Not knowing Emmi to well we were unsure how she would react to Lady if we had allowed them to run together. Across the stable wall it varies. One minute Lady and Emmi get on, the next Emmi with her ears back lunges at Lady. If she did that when running together the Foal could finish up being hurt, I have seen Lady being protective, I am sure that if Emmi had a fall out with Lady, Emmi would come off worse.

Lady is very jealous of the attention that Emmi and the Foal are getting. Lady is not a fussy Horse and normally prefers to just get on with her life. Now since the Foal arrived she has started to push into us to get our attention, I think some one mentioned on the forum seeing her. She pushes and also she puts her head on our shoulder to get a pat if we are looking into Emmi’s stable, and she is able to get by the side of us. As soon as she has her Foal she will change. We have to hope that Lady’s Foal is a Colt as Emmi’s so the the two youngster will be able to run together when the are weaned.

I don’t know what has happened to the Geese. We haven’t seen them for a little over two days. I am sure that they have laid a least a couple of eggs on the island, so I am a little surprised that they haven’t returned. I wont be best pleased either after putting the new camera in place last week. It was my intention to try to find the time to get it going tomorrow. If they don’t return in the morning it wont be so urgent.

Karen asked if she had seen a Stag in the Valley on Friday night. Yes it was a Stag. The Deer were out of reach of a good place to see them with the infra-red lights, so I really couldn’t see the Stags build to well. I should think though that it was the Herd that were here for the Rut in the Autumn.
