We are still getting a few problems with our hacker although we are starting to narrow down who it may be. We have by tracing the IP address seen that the hacker has a connection to a major UK city. Be it that his or hers broadband supplier is located there, or even the hacker them self. I will let you know how we progress.

We invited a Woodland Officer from the Forestry Commission to put us in the right direction to manage Ash Wood that we purchased a month ago. Our first step is to have a Woodland Assessment carried out. The Commission has a grant to help with the costs. This will put us in the right direction to put the Wood in good order after years of neglect by Somerset Count Council the previous owner.

The Assessment will give a direct approach to what would be best for the Wood. The Woodland Officer confirmed my appraisal that the Wood needs thinning to allow regeneration by allowing more light into the Wood. There is some natural generation but not as much as is needed. There are many very large Ash and Oak but not a lot to replace them. Thinning and replanting would get the Wood in a lot better state.

Being an Ancient Woodland any felling of Trees will need a licence, that will only be given if it is necessary for the good of the Wood. Over the years many tree have fallen that we are cutting and chopping for logs. There are so many that with just those that are fallen there will be a good few years of logs that can be sold. We have also purchased an oldish Charcoal Kiln so that we can produce Charcoal. Over 90% of all Charcoal that is sold in the UK is imported from Countries with many unstainable Woods and Forests. The cost to our environment in transporting imported Charcoal is worth the effort to try to produce even a little at Denbury.

Last night the website was hit by a Hacker. The was no risk to those viewing the webcams or the website. I cannot for the life of me understand how these pond life get satisfaction from spoiling other peoples pleasure.

No doubt the pond life will attempt to hack into our system again. Until we find how it is getting in the only way that we will be able to stop it is to have a log in system where you need to register to make an entry on the Forum. I am sure that you wont want that, just as I don’t want to have to accept your registration as it will cause me additional work and cost that I do not want.

You would not want to know what the cost of keeping this website going, let alone having to pay for it, so I am not best pleased with any criticism that is made of any type or for any reason.

We have been exceptionally busy this week, so much so that there has been no time to do a Diary or upload the Photo page.

On Tuesday I had to go to Geneva. Being that I don’t fly the journey was by train, leaving Taunton at 10.30am Tuesday morning, arriving back to Taunton at midnight on Wednesday. The journey to Geneva from Paris is all in the dark so it would not be the most exciting of journeys. The day time return is completely the opposite, a journey that I have done on numerous occasions and never tire of. The train passes through mountains and mountain villages, by the side of raging rivers and beautiful countryside. There was quite a lot of snow on the mountains and around the villages. Fortunately there was no snow in Geneva. I had a two hour wait wait for my train in Geneva and spent a good hour sitting by Lake Geneva that is surrounded by mountains that had a little covering of snow.

The only time that I get to read a book is when I travel by train. At St Pancras Station I picked up a Jeffry Archer book, A Prisoner of Birth. Some how I managed to read the 616 pages finishing the book five minutes before. I arrived back to Taunton, so I didn’t notice the time that the journey had taken. By coincidence the books centred around the East End of London and Geneva.

With the Sheep being free range at the moment there has been a lot of contact between them and Ewy. We had thought that she would not bother with the Sheep being that she had been very close to the Horses, but over the past couple of days Ewy has been getting very close to the other Sheep. This evening Ewy after joining in feed time with Willow and Gypsy we noticed that she was grazing in the midst of the Sheep. We are hoping to house the Sheep in the Barn early next week. It will be interesting to see if Ewy comes in with them.
