Hello Everyone hope you are all well and good I hope. Well I looked in on the Osprey early evening last night about 6 ish I was left open mouthed at the sight there were 4 on the nest, and the young were flapping their wings so the adult took off they all watched her go over the Loch little heads following her every move I clicked off for a few mins went back and there was only one on the nest looking rather bemused to be alone haha bless What a nice outcome this is 3 young oh it is heart warming Maddie I definitely adore you yes I do……… Karen Stoke

Yes I did see that the cam was back on and the owlet has suddenly grown !!!!

Made a change had Andrea & Kate plus Mabel staying here with us over the weekend !

Copied this from the nest diary just now
July 2015

9th – the farm is experiencing broadband problems which we hope will be rectified in the next couple of days. However, during a very brief period of service this morning the owlet was in the nestbox looking bright and active.

3rd – a nest inspection was carried out and the remaining owlet was found to be fit and healthy so was fitted with a BTO ring.

I’m guessing they cleaned and sorted out the camera problem when they ringed the chick, its very good news that we have a healthy chick yay 🙂

Yayayayayayayayayay the owl cam is working and the glass has been cleaned, the picture is really clear and we still have 1 quite big chicken 🙂 🙂
Thank you Barn Owl Trust for sorting it out 🙂

Lovely to hear from you Elsie, sincerely hope that you and Harold are well or as well as you can be (if you know what I mean) ?

Sheila and I try to see each other once a month they either come to us or we go to them and in the winter time we generally meet half way at a lovely pub/hotel we have found and have lunch, sit in their lounge and have tea/coffee whatever we want and the Management have told us to stay as long as we like – well that is a first for us and now we have been doing it for the last five years or so and they always greet us with a smile and hello !

The baby owl is growing very quickly now and wow the osprey chicks will very soon be flying – will miss them when they finally depart from the UK !

Sorry I haven’t been on the forum for a while but I haven’t been too good. Those young ospreys amaze me, the size of them is unbelievable. Their parents have certainly turned out to be good ones. The owl cam is always off, wonder how the chick is. Jennie your comments about your friend reminded me about one I have. We met in 1940/41 when she was came to live next door to us during the war. We never lost touch when she went home, she has lived all over the country, mainly down south and we are still in touch. Spent some lovely holidays with her when she lived in South Devon, actually we saw more of each other when our families grew up. Haven’t seen her for a few years now as she lives in Oxford now and neither of us are getting any younger.

Many thanks to you all for my special day birthday wishes – I had a brilliant birthday celebrating with my family and my best friend – we go back 70 years as we lived next door to each other when we were kids and now she and her husband live in Dorset so naturally do not see so much of them nowadays ! Jan the Barn Dance was amazing on Saturay eveing so much so we want to go again next year !

The osprey chicks are really growing now and I see that the owl wecam is not working – how sad as I love watching them !

I totally agree with you Karen about Maddie she has been a brilliant Mum and Dad has been excellent providing so much fish – they make a good caring couple – long may it last for the next few years !

Have you looked at the baby owls – one is bigger than the other Dad has gone AWOL and the female has had to go out hunting for food for her offspring !

Hi Jenny, that sounds like a lovely day you have organizationed for your birthday, I’m the same, a lovely little gathering of family and friends, bbq if weather allows, hope you have a lovely day and are spoilt rotten by your family 🙂 🙂
Keeping our fingers crossed for good weather on Sunday as it Cottered village day, my son’s partner comes from the village and it’s a lovely day out, they usually have a birds of prey display, which I love 🙂 only draw back is the main road that runs through the village is the A507 to Baldock and it’s a really busy road, you cross it a dozen or more times on the day :-/ also same day there is a dog show and charity fund raiser for Heathland dog rescue at the Baldock car boot field just 10 minutes up the road my daughter wants to enter her little Dotty she’s a miniature dachshund jack russell cross she is so cute 🙂
I have noticed the nice clear camera, thank you Mr Farmer but haven’t looked in on the barn owl for a while as the camera was playing up last time I looked, don’t know if I want to look , thats the trouble with wildlife webcams you have to accept the bad things as well as the good 🙂

Oh poor you Jan but you have done your mother-in-law proud and I know it is hard work and to tell you truth she was so lucky she managed to finally get into a warden assisted bungalow – at least she will have someone to keep an eye on her also ! We have a big 4 bed detached house and nodoubt our two kids wlll have to do the same for us !!!! only joking but must admit I would like to move to something smaller but nothing near us at the moment plus being detached we are not used to noise – we had enough of that with our last house !!!!!

There is a local Barn Dance in Little Munden in the manor house near to where the girls live, easy walking distance and the money raised is for charity and there is also a hog roast so we are going there on Saturday evening and on Sunday which is the ‘big day’ the girls are doing a BBQ and my son, daughter-in-law and grandson together with my best friend Sheila and husband are driving up from Dorset – I prefer to keep it simple and just hope that they are not organising a surprise party as I just want a quiet celebration ! (oh dear what a misery) !!!!!!

I see Mum is back feeding the two owlets at the moment – one is much larger than the other – just hope it survives !

Did you notice that the lake webcamm is much clearer now ?

Have a good and restful weekend !!!

Hi sorry I disappeared Jenny, my mother in law lives in a housing association house and has after 3 years of waiting been allocated a sheltered housing bungalow with a warden and we have been all hands on deck trying to get her moved in, this happened on Monday and then we found out we have to strip her old house of all carpets and floor coverings curtain tracks and all non housing association fixtures and fittings, we also had to clean the house from top to bottom, it is a big 3 bedroomed house, it was built in 1948, she is 86 and has struggled with the housework for a while, it has taken 3 days to clear and clean, I’m shattered 🙁 wow 70 are you doing anything spe ial with your daughter 🙂
Val lovely to hear from you, glad you and your computer are feeling better 🙂
