Hi All

Just to say that we are back from driving to Portugal through France and Spain, we really enjoyed the trip but it went too fast and have only been back a couple of days and then went to our daughter Andrea’s together with our son, Roger, daughter-in-law and Grandson to celebrate my 69th birthday for the weekend. I was thoroughly spoilt and enjoyed every minute of it and hey next year the big 70 ! but think that may well be a quiet one if I have my way ! Jan we went to the school fete in Little Munden yesterday which was very good and at the same time as the fete started there was also a huge white wedding at the Church also – never seen it so busy !!!! Today we had a bbq but sadly after a sunny start we had to eat inside as the heavens opened up and continued and also it turned very cold so much so that the heating was turned on for a while !!!!!

Karen how are you ? Any news regarding that appointment ? Are you sleeping any better or still a night owl ?

Mick what about your eye how are you getting on ?

Betty I have replied to you on Facebook and hope that you have some news soon about your next appointment and what the medics are going to do ? I went back to Guy’s last Friday and all was ok and have another appointment for six ,months time Betty I really don’t think that I could cope with your heat !!!!!!

All has been quiet on the Forum recently but did see that Mable’s eggs have been removed by a specialist to see what went wrong and now she isn’t to be seen on the nest or Toy Boy ! How sad that we have no offspring to watch and also the Peregrines didn’t produce any this year either !

Thank you mr farmer. Mick how are you doing? Very hot here in Canada today 37 degrees with the humidex. Hubby put in 2 new air conditioners in the bedrooms. Bliss. Betty Canada

Mick, I am not surprised that all the Goslings are surviving. I must admit with this year being the first time they have left the Lake area I was and still concerned about the Fox. Every year since I put the electric fence up other that a misshape with one going into the stream all the Goslings that have hatched have flown off of the Lake. Today they are on the Lake and have been taking their first attempt at flying.

Mr Farmer, Thanks for letting us know about the pictures and I must admit that I guessed the Black Swans eggs had not hatched as you would have made a point of letting us all know if they had, so just have to hope for next year instead. It has to be very unusual that all the Canada Geese goslings survived to adults as you would expect that some would fall prey to fox, crows or magpies at some time in the earlier days.
I am seeing lots of Badgers on the cam possibly up to nine one night also Roe Deer and Badgers feeding together, (very good to see).
Mick

Elsie, The Swans are still sitting the eggs. There was very little chance when they produced the eggs so late being Winter breeders. I will need to take the eggs away or they will be sitting for another 2 months.

Some Canada geese don’t migrate, a park we go to they are there all year round. I take it that nothing came of the black swans eggs,

Karen, The Geese should fly off at the end of July to the beginning of August. They have over the past week started to spend more time on the Lake. it wont be long until they start to learn to fly.
They leave the Lake early in the morning before we get up push their way through the electric fence, but they wont go back unless I leave the gate open.
Elsie, Mick and any of you that have sent me photographs. Something has gone wrong with the Gallery. I have been waiting 3 weeks for the person who does my website to put it right. I am not pleased.

Mr. Farmer, I was watching the geese grazing on cam and looking so content and happy. They sure have grown. How much longer do you think they will be around? They look as though they found a home and don’t plan on leaving.

Betty and Karen, my thoughts are with you and hope you both have a speedy recovery.

Karen, Florida (USA)

Betty sorry to hear your news but at least you have had a diagnosis so at least they can crack on with you now very positive thoughts from myself and Fred hope everyone is keeping well I have to go see the specialist next Monday so hopefully I will get some relief of feeling like something out of one flew over the cuckoos nest I could attack my doctor for doing this but i haven’t the strength but you wait till I am right he’s getting a tongue lashing alright……Speak to you all soon Karen Stoke

Betty, Very sorry to hear that but really hoping like you that they can do something about that. Keep your chin up.
Mick

Well finally a result after the MRI. A copy of the report was faxed to my GP by mid day the same day. Looks like I have ovarian cancer but at least now we can get something done. I will be referred to a gynecologist/oncologist. Hopefully soon.
Hope your trip is going well Jenny and have a good weekend all. Betty Canada

Sounds like you will have a good holiday, I’m guessing you have done it before and don’t mind the driving 🙂
that’s a busy weekend for us too my hubby will be 60 on 1st July and we are having a family party/ bbq on the 29th and he is meeting some of his work mates for a pub crawl and an Indian at our local restaurant on 28th 🙂 I hope you have a good birthday weekend, fingers crossed for better weather, its quite chilly today and keeps trying to rain/ drizzle, not nice summer weather 🙂

Hi Jan yes we both drive so it won’t be a problem, we are driving approximately 1400 miles there and the same coming back but we are stopping off on route for two nights ! Yes you are so lucky in Hertfordshire seeing all the buzzards and red kites, quite jealous I am ! We are back staying at Kate and Andrea’s for the weekend of the 28 & 29 June celebrating my birthday and the big 70 next year – hmmm can’t wait !!!!! Most of my friends are 70 this year and I seem to be the baby of our group We have 4 people reaching that age between July and December – lots of celebrations !! but I think that mine will pass quietly I hope !

Hope you have a lovely break in Portugal Jenny, do you share the driving with John or does he drive all the way 🙂
We went to the farm shop near Puckeridge on Saturday afternoon and a pair of red kites were displaying over the car park, they were stunning and only a few feet above us, when you see them soaring on the thermals you forget how big their wingspan is 🙂 🙂
we have seen a lot of buzzards and red kites flying over this weekend, I forget how lucky we are to have them in this part of the country the are becoming a very common sight. I have had a lovely pair of bullfinches feeding on my seed feeder and an adult greater spotted woodpecker feeding two babies on the peanut feeder 🙂
Its a shame about the osprey, I have just seen a barn owl in the nest box on the webcam, another lovely bird 🙂

Awww thanks Betty but will still be catching up with Denbury Farm as we are taking our IPad, you certainly can’t keep me away !!!

Jan (Herts) We went to our daughters today and the farmer was cutting the grass with his tractor in the field next to their property and high above us was a buzzard flying overhead and also a red kite which was flying around the field waiting for it’s dinner to come out of the mown grass !!! We were having a BBQ for Fathers Day with Kate’s Mum and Dad it was so fascinating to watch but a shame that the sun didn’t come out until we were leaving ! Hope all you Dad’s had a good day ?

How sad to watch Mabel still sitting on her eggs !

Well we are finally off on holiday for a couple of weeks, driving to Portugal though France and Spain where we know that the weather is good ! This has been planned since last year and we never ever thought we would finally be doing it !
